Convertible Upright Freezer/Fridge – Usage Notes FGFRF1097

This appliance has the unique feature of being a Freezer that can also convert to a Fridge. Its design uses a direct cooling system with manual defrost. Some moisture or frost on the inner walls is normal and does not affect performance.

  • Refrigerator Mode: Moisture droplets may form on the inner walls.
  • Freezer Mode: Frost may appear on the inner walls, especially at the top.

The unit is preset to freezer mode 5, the correct setting of the temperature will depend based on the ambient temperature so that in a cooler environment the setting should be on a lower number and in a warmer ambient setting it should be on a higher number, see below for the typical temperature settings and guidelines

Freezing Mode Recommendations 1. Temperature Setting:

  • Settings range from 4 (cold) to 7 (coldest).
  • Too cold a setting increases energy consumption and frost buildup. Adjust according to the amount of food inside.

2. Moisture Management:

  • If the freezer is lightly filled, moisture may form on the top inner liner.
  • Frequent door openings or high humidity can increase moisture.
  • Filling the upper shelf first helps reduce frost and extends time between defrosts.

3. High Humidity:

  • Frost accumulates faster in high humidity.
  • Regularly defrost following the instructions in the User Manual.

4. Frost Buildup:

  • Frost thickens over time, reducing efficiency.
  • Defrost when frost exceeds the recommended level in the User Manual.

5. Switching to Refrigerator Mode:

  • Defrost before switching to prevent water from melting frost from spilling onto the floor or nearby items.

Refrigerator Mode Recommendations 1. Temperature Setting:

  • Settings range from 1 (cold) to 3 (coldest).

2. Top Shelf Storage:

  • Store packaged foods on the top shelf to help prevent condensation.

3. Food Placement:
